Natural Corsican soap
Laetitia Straforelli has been making soap in all its forms, in a wide variety of colours and natural scents, for 16 years. Her early profession as a landscape gardener working with plants naturally led her to develop a passion for essential oils and, more specifically, soap-making.
A thriving family business
Spending most of her time at her laboratory in Patrimonio, Laëtitia is supported by her husband Philippe, and her children, Baptiste, who works in production, and Lucie, who attended business school in Nice and is responsible for developing the brand both on the island and on the mainland. They have been joined by Waniss, a student on a work-linked training scheme, Christine, who prepares the orders, and a third person who helps with production, cutting the soaps and packaging.
A member of the ADNS Association Des Nouveaux Savonniers (Association of New Soap Makers), the Savonnerie du Nebbiu opens its shop in the heart of the vineyards of Patrimonio, where you can discover the world of this family-run business, which creates and manufactures its soaps from A to Z.
Guided tour on Tuesday and Friday
To find out everything you need to know about the products you use, the Nebbiu soap factory offers an educational tour of the soap-making process, its scents, the essential oils and local plants used and their virtues. These discussions and advice sessions take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2pm, by prior arrangement.
Cold saponification - Ideal for your skin
Saponification is the chemical process by which soap is obtained. The fact that it is cold saponification means that the vegetable oils are not heated, leaving the soap with more vegetable glycerine, which is beneficial for the skin, which could be damaged by the detergent and its excessively alkaline pH, according to Julien's article L'essentiel. After cold saponification, the soap must be dried for at least 4 weeks, unlike hot saponification, which allows it to be used immediately.
Organic essential oils
Soaps from the Savonnerie du Nebbiu are made using a cold saponification process that preserves all the virtues of the organic essential oils and butters used. What's more, the result is a product that's gentle on the skin, non-irritating and more respectful of the environment.
Making Corsican soap
There are several stages in the soap-making process, the first of which involves mixing together butters, oils and natural colourings such as seaweed or henna in powder form. After 3 days, the soap is removed from the mould, sliced and left to dry for 4 to 6 weeks. Each soap has its own unique shape, scent, marbling, colour and decoration.
Second shop in Lucciana, route de l'aéroport
At the end of 2022, the Savonnerie du Nebbiu opened a second shop on the airport road in Lucciana.
A second shop opened in the greater Bastia area, in addition to the historic Patrimonio boutique.
You'll find the full range of products from the Savonnerie du Nebbiu: handmade soaps, liquid soaps, refills, beard soap, household soap, as well as all the accessories (copper or loofah sponges, bath flowers, brushes, pumice stone).
You'll also find essential oils and hydrolats from the Mimalodrina distillery.

Tradition soaps

Natural Corsican liquid soap
In 2015, Laëtitia took a training course in liquid soap-making on the mainland. Since then, the Savonnerie du Nebbiu has also been making natural liquid soap using potash, olive oil, coconut, glycerine and citric acid to neutralise it all. It comes in a range of scents including myrtle, cistus, immortelle, fig and black pepper in 3 different sizes: 30 ml (hotel range), 100 ml, 200 ml and 500 ml.
100% Natural, free from sulphates, parabens, palm oil and SLS
Not to be confused with shower gel, liquid soap from the savonnerie du Nebbiu is 100% natural, with no synthetic products, no sulphates, no parabens, no palm oil, and unlike industrial shower gel, there's no film left on the skin after rinsing. What's more, liquid soap is 100% eco-friendly, leaving no trace in nature, unlike shower gel.
Which liquid soap should I choose?
- Figs, black pepper : Moisturising soap with a sweet, pungent scent
- Citron: For fresh, invigorating sensations
- Immortelle: Very mild soap, ideal for daily hand cleansing
- Myrte Ciste: Very gentle, ideal for daily hand cleansing and body care
Refills for less plastic
The Savonnerie du Nebbiu in Patrimonio and Lucciana offers you the opportunity to refill your empty soap bottles, to avoid the cost of new plastic packaging and for the good of the environment. We'll give you 500ml bottles so you can refill your liquid soap bottles several times in your bathroom or kitchen.
Facial care soaps
Cleansing soap
Soap for gentle, moisturising skin care with apricot oil and shea butter, and antioxidant hazelnut oil. Grapeseed oil has a regenerating effect.
Organic Immortelle essential oil provides anti-wrinkle and regenerating care, while Ylang-Ylang essential oil has anti-stress and relaxing properties. Grapefruit essential oil is an antioxidant. The little bonus that makes this soap remineralising comes from the Bamboo powder.
Sea salt soap to combat acne
Another new product from the soap factory is sea salt soap, which is recommended for acne and blackhead problems. Use it daily or once every two days, depending on your needs. Its drying and exfoliating properties help to fight acne naturally.
Cold-saponified soap for oily skin, especially in adolescence.
Shaving soap for men
The beard soap is specially formulated for shaving with avocado and castor oils with moisturising properties for soft skin, as well as shea butter and white clay to soothe razor burn, and lavender and geranium to help heal cuts.
Beard soap is designed for all men to soften and wash your beard. Natural foaming soap with organic vegetable oils (avocado, coconut, castor)
Organic donkey milk soap
Donkey's milk soap has been known since ancient times, and is particularly good for dry skin thanks to its rehydrating and repairing properties. It is also recommended for eczema. The Savonnerie du Nebbiu uses certified organic donkey's milk for this soap, which is available as a normal soap or as a liquid soap.
Sheep's milk soap
Sheep's milk soap has a high protein content, rather like donkey's milk soap. It is the colostrum (first milk) that is used, hence its high protein concentration, and which is not used in cheese-making. It comes from a sheep farm right next to the soap factory in Patrimonio, which is both natural and ethical.
Shampoo and Conditioner
For your hair, the Savonnerie du Nebbiu has created a shampoo (hair and body) and a conditioner with immortelle and sweet almond.
SPA range
Face & Body Oil
The dry face oil has a moisturising and regenerating effect and does not leave a greasy film on the skin. It contains five plant oils: jojoba and hazelnut (antioxidant and penetrating), regenerating grapeseed and evening primrose oils (to maintain skin elasticity) and nourishing, moisturising apricot kernel oil, as well as Vitamin E.
Scrubbing black soap & Traditional black soap
The benefits of traditional black soap for the skin are well known. Based on oriental know-how, discover 100% natural soaps made in Corsica. We recommend that you take a hot shower before soaping with traditional black soap and leave for 10 minutes, before rubbing with a Hammam glove and rinsing with warm water.
Also discover exfoliating black soap to be applied to the face after opening the pores using a hot line or steam over a pan of hot water surrounded by a towel.
Room fragrance
Since 2023, the Savonnerie du Nebbiu has also been selling 4 home fragrances symbolising the 4 seasons, to naturally perfume your home.
- Veranu : Spring fragrance
- Estate : Summer fragrance
- Vaghjime: Autumnal home fragrance
- Invernu: The scent of winter ambience
"Veranu" unfurls an array of spring floral notes, patchouli and Corsican clementine, reminiscent of a morning breeze of fresh linen. The "Estate" room fragrance captures the Mediterranean summer with its citrus and Corsican immortelle accords, evoking rest under the sea sun. "Vaghjime" represents the essence of autumn, combining spices with amber and cedar, and finally, "Invernu" envelops winter in the gourmand aromas of vanilla and caramel, like a comforting sweetness.
These fragrances transform any interior into a sanctuary of bucolic, voluptuous sensations, inviting you to take a sensory journey through the seasons.
Household soap
2021 saw the launch of a new product, a household soap made from cuttings, with the distinctive feature of being glycerine-free like Marseille soap. This cleaning soap was tested on a boat by the nacomed association. It can be used for all types of household surfaces, from the kitchen to the bathroom, and for your floors.
Hydroalcoholic gel
This hydro-alcoholic gel has been designed to be natural and gentle, so it can be used several times a day without being too harsh on the skin. It dries very quickly on the skin without sticking. Its anti-bacterial action comes from its composition of 75% 97-degree alcohol and essential oils of Tea Tree and peppermint.
The gelling effect comes from a natural thickener, xanthan gum, which makes the gel thinner than petrochemical gels.
Available in 50ml, 200ml, 500ml and litre sizes for professionals.
Bathroom accessories
These Corsican soaps are made from 100% natural essential oils and vegetable butters, using island products such as Corsican sheep's milk, Myrtle, Honey, Cistus,Immortelle, Petit Grain and citrus oil.... and when it comes to other products such as shea butter and argan oil, Laetitia makes it a point of honour to ensure that all her raw materials are fully traceable.
The latest addition is Patrimonio soap with antioxidant olive oil.

Upcoming projects
The Savonnerie boutique has been extended, and Laetitia's medium-term aim is to grow her own plants in order to make her own 100% home-made essential oils. The region is ideal for growing plants such as Myrtle, as indicated by the shop's location at "Lieu-dit Morta Majo", "Grande Myrte" in Corsica.
The idea is also to launch a range of soaps and skincare products made from 100% grape-seed oil, using only regional products.
Internationalisation of the brand
The Savonnerie du Nebbiu hopes to export its products beyond the national borders, to the European and international markets, in particular to Great Britain and Canada, a country renowned for its cold saponification.
This is the mission entrusted to Waniss, who is on a work-study placement at the Savonnerie for a year and a half, and whose role is to capture these new markets.
