The Île Rousse SPAR is open 7/7 and offers Corsican products, general groceries with an organic section, and cleaning products all year round. SPAR has recently added a Drive-through service.

Ile Rousse supermarket open 7/7

Located at number 4 rue Napoléon, 50 meters above the covered market, the SPAR d'Ile Rousse has revived a century-old food store in the paoline town.

In 2018, three friends - Pierre-Louis, Nicolas and Mélanie - originally from rue Napoléon, where the store is located, decided to bring the store back to life, offering a local convenience store to Île Rousse residents and visitors alike, and contributing to the dynamism of the pedestrian streets in Balagne's second-largest town.

A village atmosphere reigns in the neighborhood, where shopkeepers meet for a drink at the nearby café or on the terrace of the U Spuntinu restaurant opposite. A friendly, family atmosphere shared by customers and passers-by alike.

Winter and summer opening times

The Île Rousse SPAR is open every day from Monday to Sunday from 8am to 8pm in summer, and in winter from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 7.30pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 8am to 7.30pm on Sunday.

Renovated before its reopening in 2018, the mini-market is branded but independent in its choice of merchandise. The store's entrance features Corsican products selected for their quality.

At the entrance to the store, you'll find an area reserved for products from Corsica:

• Canistrelli from Biscuiterie Maniccia
• Corsican cheese and yoghurt
• PDO olive oil
• Pastries: migliaccioli, cajade
• Charles Antona jams
• Corsican wines and spirits

Other regional products include veloutés from M. Turenne, with a focus on quality products, some of which are organic. SPAR also offers bread from the Casastolfi bakery in Pietralba (and Corte), and Corsican specialities such as migliacci.

Organic products

Since 2020, the store has expanded its range of organic products, with a section dedicated to food products bearing the organic label.

Fruits and vegetables

Fruit and vegetables are mainly of French origin, and Corsican produce such as kiwis, avocados and Corsican clementines, in season. In winter, you'll find

Preserves

Canned foods for practical solutions, you'll find lentils, vegetable macedoine, asparagus or ratatouille for a Mediterranean touch to your dishes...

Bakery, pastries, chocolate, drinks

The bakery department for breakfasts and snacks is also stocked with dark chocolate-filled cookies, Gerblé sesame cookies, sliced brioche and mini braided brioche with pearl sugar, and Viennese baguettes.

Several dark chocolate bar references (70%, 85%, 90% cocoa) are available, as are Kinder and Toblerone chocolate bars. Beverages include fruit juices such as Tropicana and Joker, as well as soft drinks. Enough to satisfy every craving, whether sweet or thirst-quenching.

Fresh and frozen

The fresh produce section features triangle sandwiches and ready-to-eat salads, as well as Corsican goat's and sheep's cheeses, yoghurt, butter, ham and cold drinks. In particular, you'll find goat's crottin from the L'Aghja cheese dairy. Frozen vegetables, fish and meat, as well as ice cream.

Alcohols and spirits

The spirits section is highly diversified, with whiskies from well-known brands such as Chivas and Jack Daniel's. Rums include Havana Club and Don Papa, while liqueurs include Grand Marnier and Baileys. For aperitifs, Campari, Martini and Cap Corse Mattei complete the festive offering, while local beers such as Pietra Brewery stand alongside international brands like Heineken and Budweiser.

Pet food

The area reserved for pets offers dog and cat food, kibbles and minced food. Brands such as Purina One (bifensis croquettes), Felix (tendres effilés), Sheba (délices du jour) and Whiskas (wet food) are available for cats, along with hygienic cat litter (Catsan, Casino). Dogs are also catered for, with kibbles (Casino Animaplus), snacks (Pedigree Biscrok) and dental care (Fido Dental Delicieux).

Household products

For home maintenance, the household section offers a full range of products, including washing-up liquids (Paic Citron, Casino), dishwasher tablets (Finish Quantum, Sun) and multi-purpose cleaners (Ajax, Vigor, Javel). On the hygiene side, disinfectant gels (Sanytol) and antiseptic products (Mercurochrome) complete the range for a spotless home.

Basic necessities

In non-food, you'll find a section devoted to everyday products: batteries, toilet paper, garbage can liners, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, moisturizing creams, as well as school supplies and seasonal products such as sun cream in summer and mosquito repellents.

You'll also find baby diapers and other childcare items, including baby food.

Pierre-Louis, Nicolas and Mélanie are keen to exchange ideas with their customers in order to advise them and create a friendly atmosphere. To celebrate their first year of business in April 2019, SPAR organized a draw for baskets of Corsican products on Facebook and Instagram.
