Constructed in the Mid-16th Century

The Castellare Tower in Pietracorbara, also known as Ampuglia Tower, or Aquila Tower (Hay, Eagle's Nest).
It was constructed in 1550 at the initiative of Marcu de Gentile - probably from the lordship of De Gentile - and the villagers of Pietracorbara on the site of an ancient location.
Its position allowed it to majestically dominate the Pietracorbara marine, perched on a rocky promontory 127 meters above the waters. It was guarded by a garrison of torregiani from the village of Pietracorbara.
Encircled by a defensive wall, the tower, now in a state of disrepair, was also equipped with a storehouse.
